Three new faces have made it too the national golf team that is preparing to defend the East African Golf Challenge tournament due from November 17-21 at the Kigali Golf Club in Rwanda.
The new players who will be joining the team include Daniel Baguma, Andrew Byaruhanga and Herman “Deco” Mutebi, who were the surprise picks of the 18 players who have been undergoing qualifiers.
Baguma, ended the qualifiers with the best scores of 12 points together with Ronald Bukenya while Byaruhanga, finished with 11.5 points while Mutebi, finished with 10.5 points.
“It’s a good side that we have choosen and I believe in this crop of players and I will mix them up with my options of who will be playing in the pairings already in my mind,” Amos Kamya, the national coach said. “This team is a strong one and they look determined for the task ahead of them.”
The national team will first play in the Rwanda Open from November 11-14 at the same venue were they are expected to defend the East African Challenge.
The players who made the national cut are Ronald Bukenya, Ronald Rugumayo, Ronald Otile, Robert Oluba, Andrew Byaruhanga, Daniel Baguma, Adolf Muhumuza, Herman “Deco” Mutebi, Happy Robert.
Those that missed the cut include Henry Lujja, Lawrence Muhenda, Kato Owen, Becca Mwanja, Hussein Bagalana, Patrick Mwaka, Boney Amale, Titus Okwong, Abraham Ainamanyi.
