  • 1st Leg: Thurs, 12th Nov 2015 – Togo Vs Uganda (Lome)
  • 2nd Leg: Sun, 15th Nov 2015 – Uganda Vs Togo (Kampala)

Endless tales of mediocre preparations for many Ugandan sportsmen and teams prior to several events will soon be a history chapter to be  included on the syllabus of elementary schools.

As you assimilate this, the President of the Republic of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni has assured the Uganda national football team, the Cranes a fully cleared chartered flight to and from Togo for the 2018 first round World Cup qualifier in Togo.

President Museveni made the offer when he called the Ugandan football association boss, Moses Magogo following Uganda Cranes victory over Comoros and Sudan.

The President’s offer will meet the cost of air tickets for the foreign based players who have been invited for the double header 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Togo on 12th and 15th November, 2015 in Lome and Namboole respectively.

He will also cater for the costs of the National team’s preparations amounting to $44,000 and Ugx. 70M.

On top of the chartered flight, the match allowances and bonuses of $3,000 per player will also be met by the Government of Uganda after the two matches have been played.

FUFA boss, Moses Magogo lauded the offer;

We are grateful for the offer from the president and this will boost our confidence prior the key matches. We are glad for the President’s support because this is a timely intervention. We have been struggling a lot for finances on how to fund these two trips as the National team still has many more matches to play before the end of the year’ said FUFA President Magogo

Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic will name the team on Wednesday.

The best news to the ear pillars of the over 37 million Ugandans is the timely recovery of goal keeper, Denis Onyango from injury (strained shoulder).
