41st Mukwano Golf Open:

  • Amateur Winner: Adolf Muhumuza (68 Gross)
  • Pro Winner: Phillip Kasozi (68 Gross)

2015 Mukwano Golf open winner, Adolf Muhumuza is a known long and hard hitter of the ball off the tee shot.

His record of 8 under par gross 62 (in 2010) at the picturesque nine hole Toro Golf Course in Fort Portal emits echoes of praise and stands to be emulated thus far.

Upon winning his second Mukwano Golf tournament (after the 2010 heroics), Muhumuza, a Uganda national team golfer has hailed the rainny weather prior to tee off that helped soften the ground and make the course holding.

This is my home course. I know each and every corner of the course. Besides, the early rains played to my advantage. I could play my balls where i wanted and it is no accident that i emerged the winner

Muhumuza, who had just returned from the 2015 Rwanda Open scored two under par 68 gross to topple a field of other 80 golfers, registering six birdies on holes 4, 6, 7, 11, 13 and 18 with boggy scores on 8, 14, 15, 17 and the rest were par scores.

Another Fort Portal home bred talent, Denis Asaba scored one over par 71 gross to take second place.

On the missing national stars who were with the national team in Rwanda for the East African Golf Challenge title defence, Muhumuza clearly puts it, their presence would have helped perform better.

Sincerely, if the players were available, competition would have evidently made more likely for me to record far better scores.

Defending champion, Ronald Otile was part of the eight man team in Kigali for the 2015 East African Golf challenge successful defence under the stewardship of coach Amos Kamya.

Others were Happy Robert (Kilembe Club, Kasese), Uganda’s captain Ronald Bukenya (Mehta club, Lugazi), Robert Oluba, Herman ‘Deco’ Mutebi (Entebbe) Andrew Byaruhanga and the Toro Ronald duo of Otile and Rugumayo together with Daniel Baguma.

Toro’s Edwin Okong missed the tourney because of a busy academic schedule as he was sitting his A’level examinations at Mpanga Secondary School in Fort Portal.

Uganda Golf Club based pro golfer, Phillip Kasozi beat 12 other golfers to claim the top spot in the professionals’ catergory and a lion’s share of the Ug.shs 2M kitty courtesy of the sponsors, Mukwano group of companies limited.
