KCCA Leopards pulled one game back with a 57-54 win over UCU Lady Canons in Game 3 of their best of seven finals series.
Martha Soigi and Flavia Okecho had 15 and 11 points respectively to lead the defending champions scorers while Joy Chemutai returned from injury with 9 points on the day.
UCU’s Velma Achieng had 20 points while Zaina Lokwamberi contributed 14 in the Lady Canons’ futile effort.
Timothy Odeke’s charges found themselves two games down with fatigue the main excuse for the defending champions.
The Zone V tournament in Kigali and the Africa Club championship in Angola have left the ladies tired and they laboured to cope with the University side.
The injuries to Becky Akullo and Chemutai didn’t help matters as Odeke’s offensive options were reduced.
The two sides lock horns again today at the YMCA Outdoor with last year’s winners hoping to level matters.
UCU on the other hand will be looking to close in on the title before traveling for the University games that start Wednesday at Busoga University in Iganga.
