KCCA and URA FC will represent Uganda at the 2016 Mapinduzi Cup, Kawowo Sports has learnt.

The two sides are set to be invited by the tournament’s organisers according to impeccable sources from the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF).

“We are considering invitations for KCCA and URA FC as Uganda’s representatives,” a source at TFF revealed.

According to the organisers, the tournament which is annually held in commemoration of the Zanzibar Independence is scheduled between January 1 and January 13, 2016.

If all goes as expected, the two Ugandan sides will miss a number of key players for the competition as Uganda Cranes will be preparing for the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) finals due in Rwanda which kicks off on January 16.

The only Ugandan side to have won the trophy is KCCA in 2014 when a solitary strike by Herman Wasswa saw them edge Simba; the record and reigning champions.
