Footballing journalists from the New Vision kick started the 2015/16 Uganda Cup in emphatic style eliminating Ntinda F.C 2-1 as the 42nd Edition successfully kicked off with ten preliminaries in the Kampala Region.
New Vision edged Ntinda 2-1 in a well attended match played at Kyambogo Primary School play ground on Wednesday evening.
Achilles Kayemba and George William Kyomukama’s penalty after another George William entity, Lubwama had handled the ball in the penalty area.
Nasser Hamis scored the consolation for Ntinda, through yet another penalty that came through a handball.
On Tuesday, Nsambya based City Lads overcame Life Eternal at Busega Community play ground.
Faizo Umar had a brace and Faizo Babalanda scored the other for the City Lads who are with out a coach since the head coach was banned for a year after assaulting a match referee.
Wembley lost 1-0 to Nakivubo boys, Kyebando bowed out after losing to last season’s revelation, Kyambogo 5-4 on post match penalties. Normal time had ended one all before the penalties were called in to determine the winner because the tournament is run on a knock out basis.
Old Mulago also beat Mutungo 5-3 on penalties following a 2 all draw.
Four teams will qualify from Kampala to the round of 64 stage.
The winner of this tournament earns a direct slot to the 2016/17 CAF Confederations Cup.
SC Villa are the defending champions.
