SC Villa 3-2 Express FC

SC Villa staged a great come back from two goals down to beat rivals Express FC 3-2 in a five goal thriller at Nakivubo.

Tony Odur gave the visitors the lead as early as second minute making a connection off Ceaser Okhuti cross down the right.

A through ball from Ibrahim Kayiwa found Okhuti who beat his marker Henry Katongole; a former Express FC man before crossing in the area with Odur making a connection for his first goal of the season.

Eight minutes later, Odur turned provider with Okhuti netting after a good exchange of passes in the area.

The Red Eagles led 2-0 after ten minutes and the game looked to be settled but it wasn’t to be as SC Villa started to settle.

The hosts started to press for a goal before half time and finally their pressure paid off in the 37th minute when Karim Ndugwa headed home off Godfrey Lwesibawa cross from the right.

This prompted Coach Ibrahim Kirya to make an instant change with Umar Kasumba replacing the ineffective Martin Kizza.

With a minute to half time, Okhuti should have extended the visitors’ lead but shot wide and wild when through on goal after a good ball from Sam Kintu.

The half time whistle meant the Red Eagles led 2-1 but after the break, things started to change as SC Villa looked the better side Umar Kasumba leading the charge.

Express’ Wasswa Bbosa made an instant change withdrawing Ibrahim Kayiwa for the experienced Vincent Kayizzi.

In the 63rd minute, Kasumba won a corner off Ibrahim Kizza and Godfrey Lwesibawa met Ambrose Kirya who pounced on it for an equaliser to send the ‘Blue army’ into frenzy.

Three minutes later, Kirya scored the winning goal slotting home with Lwesibawa; bagging his second assist on the day as his former bosses fall.

In a strange move, Bbosa withdrew Kayizzi who had just come on for Ahmed Kayongo and also Richard Kigozi for Eric Ssebuguzi but there was no holding back as the hosts held on victory.

The victory lifts SC Villa to fourth on the log with 21 points while Express FC stay seventh with 17 points after third successive loss.
