KCCA Vs SC Villa – Nakivubo stadium @ 4.30pm

The last time the two sides met, it was in the finals of this year’s Uganda Cup which SC Villa edged 3-0 at Namboole.

The fixture was marred by controversy right from the Ntungamo debacle which saw the Kasasiro miss over four players in a replay thanks to off the pitch send offs by referee Robert Donney.

Although SC Villa won the most recent of meetings, they are yet to beat KCCA in the league since the 2011/12 season.

The Jogoos; then under Coach Mike Mutebi (now at KCCA) won 2-0 courtesy of goals from Herman Wasswa and Moses Ndaula.

None of the players is still at Villa Park and since then, KCCA has won three and drawn as many subsequent fixtures.

History may not be in favour of SC Villa but Coach Ibrahim Kirya isn’t bothered. “In football, you are as good as your current game,” he stated. “For us the game on Tuesday matters and not the previous fixtures,” he added.

Team News:

KCCA are buoyed by the return of defenders Denis Okot and Sakka Mpiima as well as midfielders Hakim Senkumba and Paul Mucureezi.

The quarter missed the stunning 1-0 loss to Bul. FC on Tuesday last week and their return offers option to the technical bench.

For SC Villa, there are no new additions to the treatment room with Abel Eturude, Yesseri Waibi, Steven Odong and Robert Achema the only doubtful ahead of the clash.

Recent Form

KCCA head into the game on the back of a 1-0 loss to Bul. FC away from home and have won three in five previous games scoring five goals and conceding two in the process.

SC Villa have lost none in the previous five winning three as well including a morale boosting 3-2 win over rivals Express FC on Friday.

Before conceding against Express, the Jogoos had gone five games (450 minutes) without shipping in goal.

Key Players:

Whenever he does perform, KCCA does. His name is Muzamiru Mutyaba. The ex-Maroons FC star is the creative pillar in the team and weighs in with goals as well. He has four goals to his name and leads the goal scoring charts for the club.

On the other side, Ambrose Kirya has proved to be a big buy for the Blues and like Mutyaba, he scores and creates goals.

The ex-JMC Hippos skipper has five goals to his credit.

KCCA lead the log with 27 points from 12 games while SC Villa are fourth with 22 points from a game more.
