URA FC Vs KCCA – Mehta Grounds, Lugazi @ 3.30pm
All roads lead to Mehta Grounds, Lugazi on Boxing Day as giants URA FC and KCCA face off in the biggest league clash of the day.
The two sides will be pursuing a recovery after failing to pick maximum points in their last respective league games.
To be specific, URA FC has drawn their previous three successive games despite being unbeaten in five since Kefa Kisala took over as head coach from the sacked Moses Basena.
For KCCA, they lost to Bul. FC 1-0 in Kakindu before escaping with a point against rivals SC Villa thanks to goalie Benjamin Ochan heroics on the day.
Ahead of the encounter, URA FC’s Simeon Masaba said; “We’re not where we are supposed and want to be but we must lift ourselves. We can’t afford a loss against KCCA as that will widen the gap.”
In the aftermath of the draw with SC Villa, KCCA assistant manager Sam Ssimbwa rued injuries but was happy that their lead remained intact.
“Good enough, none of our rivals won which is good but we need to regain our winning touch against URA FC.”
Last season, KCCA lost 3-2 at Lugazi despite Brian Umony (now at St. George) bagging a brace but won the reverse fixture 1-0 thanks to Herman Wasswa (no longer at the club).
Still, KCCA won 2-1 at Lugazi last season but in the Uganda Cup round of 32 and with three wins against URA FC two in the previous eight league meetings, the Kasasiro will fancy their chances.
The Tax Men are on 18 points; ten adrift of table leading KCCA as both sides have played 13 games.
URA FC missed the services of defender Richard Kasagga and striker Robert Ssentongo against Maroons but the two are back in contention for starting berths.
Kasagga was serving a one match ban after accumulating three yellow cards whilst Ssentongo was dropped due to disciplinary issue.
KCCA FC are still without midfielders Tom Masiko, Jackson Nunda, Derrick Nsibambi plus Tanzanian Shaban Kondo (Awol) but good news is that left back Joseph Ochaya is available for selection after being stretchered off in the barren draw against SC Villa.
The hosts will look up to striker Robert Ssentongo for goals while the visitors will hope attacking midfielder Muzamiru Mutyaba regains his A game for he has been into oblivion in the previous games.
