Uganda Cranes CHAN captain, Farouk Miya looks set to lead and inspire the rest of the 22 players and the entire contingent at the finals that kick off next week in Rwanda.

The Vipers SC play-maker, who recently scooped the most valuable player of the season gong at the FUFA Awards told Kawowo Sports of the team’s determination.

We are set. The training has been well and every member on the team is focused and determined to bring home silverware.

Miya has had a tremendous season guiding Vipers SC to the league crown in the 2014/15 season.

He also scored vital goals for the U-23 team in the Olympic qualifiers against Rwanda before bowing out to Egypt. He was team skipper in the CHAN qualifiers against Tanzania and Sudan before lifting Uganda’s 14th CECAFA senior challenge cup as captain.

Like many of the players who were part of the team that won the CECAFA senior challenge cup trophy in Ethiopia, he was exempted from the initial training drills of the team after a hard worked season.

The soft spoken but hard working player believes the team’s balance of the youth and experienced will be a driving force of glory.

We have a perfect balance of the developing and experienced players from whom we ought to learn a lot of things. This presents a great advantage that we have players who played at the CHAN finals in South Africa two years ago.
