With more than 15 months without featuring in a cockpit, two-time National Rally Champion, Ponsiano Lwakataka is finally set for his return to rallying.
‘Mafu Mafu’ as commonly known, Lwakataka will participate in the 2016 NRC season opener due 29th-30th January in Masaka and Mbarara and his return is highly anticipated.
Lwakataka’s manager, Ernest Ziwa shared with Kawowo Sports about his return.
“Its true Lwakataka is in for the Mbarara rally. Initially we had decided to rest him for sometime but the fans were so demanding and he eventually accepted to return,” said Ziwa.
“With a big fan base he created he decided to go by his fans who were willing to put in whatever they could afford for him to participate’ in Masaka,” he added.
Zziwa further shared the expected competitiveness from his driver.
“Well, we need to take on the whole season but will all depend. Currently the finances are not friendly and the car requires some many stuff to get back in shape,” he says.
Lwakataka will cruise his champion car the Subaru Impreza N8.
