Ahead of Uganda’s next two CHAN group D, the medical team is working tooth and nail concerning the fitness of goal keeper, Isma Watenga and captain Faruku Miya.

The two players suffered threatening injuries in the 2 all draw against Mali on Tuesday.

Miya was fouled and landed awkwardly in one of his normal runs enroute to the goal but Algerian FIFA referee, Mehdi Abid Charef believed the play maker had dived and he thus earned a booking.

Watenga, on the other hand suffered a painful groin injury and was stretchered off in severe pain.

According to the team media officer, also the federation spokesman, Ahmed Hussein, the medical team is monitoring the two players’ situation.

The two players were not part of the Wednesday mid-day recovery training regime.

When Miya was substituted at half time, crafty midfielder Muzamiru Mutyaba took his place.

Watenga, who needed oxygen as he was been taken for first aid was replaced by Bright Stars football club shot stopper, Mathias Kigonya.

Uganda has two remaining matches against Zambia and Zimbabwe next Saturday and Wednesday respectively.
