Following Uganda Cranes loss to Zambia, Uganda Cranes Coach Mulitin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic still believes his side can still qualify for the last eight of CHAN 2016.
However, in a post-match press briefing, the Serb described qualification as now in the domain of a theory as his side regroups for tie against Zimbabwe.
“We need to regroup and look at our qualification, which is now in the domain of a theory,” he stated. “We shall do our best against Zimbabwe; look out for a win and have a chance of qualify for the quarter finals,” he added.
On the loss to the Chipolopolo, Micho said that one detail of the match decided the game as his side lost concentration but couldn’t bury the chances they created.
One detail of the match decided the game. Human nature cost us an error for that set piece. Loss of concentration in that crucial moment cost us. On the other hand, whatever we had and created, we failed to bury.
Zambian veteran skipper Katongo scored the lone goal of the match that sunk the resilient Cranes.
As it stands, Uganda must beat Zimbabwe in the final group game on Wednesday and then hope for a favour from Zambia to Mali by perhaps a margin bigger than what Cranes achieves against The Warriors who are already out of the tournament.
