It may come as a shocking development to SCVU faithful and football fans in general but the university side will resume league duties with a whole new team.
The development follows the exodus of players from the club due to its financial crisis . In a period where the fans expected reinforcement, the club instead lost all its first team players.
Given Victoria’s failure to honour players’ contracts , it became inevitable for the players to seek the exit door. Classified sources however say majority of players left on free transfer.
Prior to their exit, Faluku Kawooya, Petit Wanok and Ramathan Yakubu petitioned the club to the Uganda football players’ Association for allegedly “non payment”. The Association reacted by advising the club to release the said players. The trio has since left the club for KCCA (Kawooya and Wanok) and AFC leopards (Ramathan).
Other players who followed suit include Kagaba and Lukwago (URA), Sebuliba, Othieno and Mbowa (Simba), Titus (Bul), Mustafa (Lweza), and Maloba (Proline).
Now, with hardly a player left, the club had no choice but to embark on youth recruitment. The team will now consist of new playing staff got from different parts of the country. The fans will hope their new players gel in as quickly as possible if they’re to survive relegation .
SCVU is currently placed 13th on the table with 15 points.
