Charles Mwesigye ‘Pojje’ Tibingana has officially joined current Rwanda Premier league leaders, AS Vita Football club.
According to the club manager, John Nshimiye, Tibingana who was born and raised in Uganda has been a free agent and he signed a two year deal.
The 22-year old Ugandan-born former Rwanda International had joined AS Kigali last August after being released by APR FC.
However he did not play a single game for them after failing to be cleared to play as a Rwandan by the Rwanda football governing body, FERWAFA.
He joins another Ugandan at the club, Shamiru Batte, a goalkeeper.
Upon being confirmed by AS Kigali, head coach Eric Nshimiyimana as quoted by New Times says;
Tibingana is now our player and has been training with his teammates for the past two weeks, what is remaining is to get his license which should probably be done before the league resumes
In Uganda, he played for Proline Soccer Academy and Sports Club Victory University.
He was part of the Rwanda U-17 team that qualified and played in the 2011 FIFA World Cup in Mexico.
He also featured for the Rwanda National U-19 and 20 teams, before playing for the senior team – the Amavubi Stars.
Then a policy barring the use of naturalized players for the national team was adapted and he ceased being summoned.
