CAF Confederations Cup Preliminary Round 1st leg

Khartoum El Watani (Sudan) Vs SC Villa (Uganda) – Khartoum Stadium @ 4.45pm

Uganda’s representatives in the CAF Confederations Cup 2016 SC Villa begin their quest for continental glory against Sudan’s Khartoum Al Watani but will only travel with 16 players.

According to the squad released by interim Coach Ibrahim Kirya, the team travels with two goalkeepers, six defenders, six defenders and only two centre forwards.

There is no place for centre forward Karim Ndugwa; the only striker with a goal at the club due to paperwork as well as Martin Kizza (injury).

Besides Yesseri Waibi, John Adriko and Denis Kamanzi, the rest of the players missing the trip are either without passport or are not licensed for the competition according to Kirya.

“We are travelling with only 16 players. The rest are injured or not licensed to play in the competition.”

The Jogoos who beat KCCA 3-0 in the final to earn the ticket to the competition are targeting a decent result away from home in a game that will be played on Saturday February 13.

They are set to fly out at exactly 12am aboard Ethiopian Airlines.
