Young Africans 2-0 Simba SC
The pre-match news before the biggest game in Tanzanian football centered around two forwards in Ugandan striker Hamis ‘Diego’ Kiiza and Burundian Amissi Tambwe.
The Ugandan international had scored 16 goals in 14 league appearances for the Msimbazi whilst the Burundian had netted two less in three more appearances.
Came D-day at the National stadium, Dar es Salaam, it was Tambwe who prevailed as he scored in the 2-0 win to hand Yanga a double over rivals Simba.
Donald Ngoma had given the Jangwani based club a lead in the 49th minute as Yanga didn’t only end the first half a goal down but also a man less after Abdi Banda was sent off in the 25th minute for a foul on Ngoma.
Like he did in the first leg, Tambwe put the icing on the cake with a decider in the 72nd minute as Godfrey Mwashuiya bagged an assist.
Kiiza was withdrawn in the 59th minute and replaced with Danny Lyanga; Brian Majwega came on for Ibrahim Hajib whilst Murushid Jjuuko played the entire game.
Mayanja first defeat
The loss marked the maiden since Ugandan legend Jackson Mayanja took over the top coaching role at the club.
