Masaka Secondary School football team head coach, Simon Peter Mugerwa believes the 2016 Uganda Muslim Solidarity Games will provide a good preparatory mechanism to the upcoming national Copa schools tournament.

Mugerwa who guided Masaka S.S to the East African title in 2015 is sure the UMEA Games will be a rehearsal tournament.

During the UMEA Games, teams will be testing their respective players ahead of the national championships

Masaka S.S will play host to the 2016 UMEA Games that are expected to run from 25th to 28th March 2016 during the Easter holidays.

Mugerwa was at the helm of the Masaka S.S team which lost 4-0 to eventual champions, St Mary’s Kitende during the 2015 Copa finals hosted by Duhaga S.S in Hoima Municipality.

As Masaka S.S, we have beefed up the team ahead of the UMEA and Copa games.

The host school is expected to rely on the experience of goalkeeper Musa Gitta, forward Joseph Jjanjali, left back Ronald ‘Jjaja Walu’ Nkonge, Muhammed Iga, skipper Umaru Kato, Isaac ‘Falcao’ Ogwang and Maroons  F.C dribbling midfielder, Felix Okot.

The UMEA Games are played by Muslim funded schools.

At the 2015 UMEA games hosted by Kasawo S.S, the overall defending champion was Kibuli S.S after tallying results in football, Netball, Volleyball and Handball.

Masaka S.S is the football event defending champion.
