Football administrators at Kitara region based club, Kitara-Airtel F.C align to that famous school of thought that believes ‘Justice delayed is Justice denied’.

Reason – since the premature abandonment of their Round of 32 tie against Express F.C at the Boma Play Ground in Hoima, no verdict has been passed by the FUFA Competitions committee.

The Kitara–Airtel versus Express F.C Uganda Cup match was abandoned in the 80th minute after Express F.C head coach asked for security after one of his players had been allegedly pushed by rowdy fans.

In a letter to the FUFA Competitions Director, Ali Mwebe, Kitara- Airtel football club chairman, Denis Musinguzi pleads that the investigations be conducted swiftly and the verdict passed;

Part of the letter reads;

As you are aware, we played against Express FC in the Uganda Cup Round of 32 and the game ended prematurely after Express FC walked off the playground with less than 5 minutes left to play.

As a club, we have evidence that we are ready to present to the FUFA Competitions Committee if we are invited to do so.

They also request to submit their own version of evidence before the competitions committee delivers its ruling on the matter.

Mwebe has assured Kawowo Sports, the committee is still gathering information and never in a hurry to pass a hurried decision.

We are still investigating from all sources having received the match referees and commissioner’s report forms.

According to Kitara-Airtel club official, Joshua ‘Josh’ Atugonza, Wasswa Bbosa is the root cause of the aborted match when he ordered his players off the playing field after goalkeeper, Brian Majwega had been booked.

Majwega was cautioned for shouting insults to the referee after protesting a decision of awarding a free-kick to the home side outside the penalty area (box).

In a recorded video uploaded on You-Tube, Bbosa is heard questioning FUFA’s decision of making big clubs like Express travel to ‘unsafe playing grounds’ as Boma in Hoima.

The winner of Kitara–Airtel Vs Express will face the winner between Kasese New Villa and Vipers Sports Club at the Round of 16 stage.

Sports Club Villa is the defending champion after overcoming KCCA F.C last season.
