With just 24 days to the Ouagadougou tie that will see Uganda Cranes take Burkina Faso in the 2017 AFCON qualifiers, Joseph Ochaya has urged all football stake holders to come out in big numbers support the team.
Speaking to the media at the FUFA weekly press conference in Mengo on Wednesday, the Cranes defender called upon fans and other stake holders to rally behind the Cranes as they seek to attain AFCON qualification that has eluded the country.
“We (players) urge the press to call upon the fans to come to the stadiums to support us because we can’t play without them” Ochaya said
“We need support. Come out in big numbers and show us support because we are ready to fight for this nation, to fight tooth and nail and make sure that our nation qualifies” he added.
“We also seek the support from the government. These are hard times because it’s never easy but when the support is there from the government and fans, I know it will be easy” the KCCA defender said.
Uganda plays Burkina Faso away at the Stade du 4 Août on Saturday, March 26 and two days later welcome them to Namboole for the return leg.
Uganda leads Group D with 6 points.
