Uganda Beach Soccer Association (UBSA) is set to organize a tournament in memory of their late patron, Samon Muwanguzi, the former proprietor of Lido beach facility in Entebbe.

According to the UBSA Chief Cxecutive Cfficer (CEO), Denis Sembuya, the late Muwanguzi deserves such honour for the enormous contribution and love he specially harbored for the game of beach since inception.

Speaking at the funeral of Muwanguzi, 65, who succumbed to prostate cancer, Sembuya as quoted by the New Vision noted;

As our patron, he did not disappoint us. He used to offer us the venue and even fed players and referees when we had no sponsor.

It is because of his moral and financial support that we can talk about beach soccer developing in Uganda

Lido beach for a long time has been home to beach soccer and Volleyball.

Besides hosting the Pepsi national beach soccer league matches, Lido beach also entertains the other calendar tournaments on the UBSA rooster.

Muwanguzi died from Nsambya hospital on Saturday, 5th March 2016.
