Uganda Premier League:

Lweza F.C 1-1 URA F.C

Left footed winger, Elukana Nkugwa staged a man of the match performance that helped Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Football Club perfectly recover from a goal deficit and register a crucial point on the day against Lweza on Tuesday at Wankulukuku stadium.

Lweza F.C took the lead on the stroke of half time when defender Allan Munaaba diverted Mike Kabanda’s cross from the left against the run of play into his own net in a fairly attended match.

This was during either sides’ 20th round of the Uganda Premier League.

URA F.C were the dominant side for long spells of the game winning six corners to the hosts’ none.

Defender Savio Kabugo tapped high of Lukwago’s bar off Julius Ntambi’s curling corner in the 25th minute.

Midfielder Shafiq Kagimu narrowly missed target on the hour mark.

Lweza’s first attempt at goal arrived in the 33rd minute when Geofrey Sserunkuma had a goal bound shot fly wide of the goal posts.

Kabanda tripped down Nkugwa, a foul that warranted a send off (last man scenario) but the referee on the day shocked everyone with no card shown although the foul was called.

Nkugwa missed the resultant effort and the quick counter won Lweza their first corner of the day when the on-colour Paddy Muhumuza had a cross blocked by Ntambi.

The resultant corner led to the opening goal. URA back line failed to clear the ball to safety before Kabanda’s swung in a dangerous cross.

With Sserunkuma piling pressure, Munaaba tapped the ball into his own net as the first half ended with the Orange in the lead.

Nkugwa scored three minutes into the second half following a goal melee to create a tense finish for either sides.

Second half substitute, Villa Oromochan had a chance to bury the game but failed on two different occasions from close range.

URA missed the services of Robert Sentongo and Yayo Lutimba.

The draw takes URA to 32 points, six adrift of the log leaders, KCCA who defeated Soana 2-0 on the day.

Lweza on the other hand now have 26 points from 20 games, and seat 11th on the 16 team log.

URA is at home to Express on Friday as Lweza shall host Sadolin Paints on the same day.
