After more than six months of no action, business resumed in the Africa Nations Cups qualifiers with five games played across the continent on Wednesday.

At Levi Mwanawasa stadium, Ndora, Zambia were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Congo Brazzaville.

Winston Kalengo gave the home side a half time lead with a sublime strike before Jordan Massengo equalised with 15 minutes to time.

In the same group, Kenya’s Harambee Stars under new tactician Stanley Okumbi lost 1-0 away to Guinea Bissau.

The only goal of the came in the 15th minute from Idrissa Camara in a game of two halves. The hosts were dominant in the first but were average in the second and Kenya came close to earning a point in the last minute but Guinea Bissau goalie was at hand to save from David Owino.

Congo top group E with five points same as Zambia while Guinea Bissau are now third on four and Kenya at the base with one.

In group G, Tanzania moved level on points; four with Nigeria after winning 1-0 away in Chad thanks to Mbwana Ali Samatta lone goal on the half hour mark.

Egypt and Nigeria face off later this week in the same group.

Elsewhere, Sao Tome Principe shocked giants Libya winning 2-1 despite the visitors taking an early lead while South Sudan lost 2-1 at home to Benin.

Action continues on Thursday with Botswana visiting Comoros, Madagascar host Central African Republic, Liberia play away to minnows Djibouti while Ghana hosts Mozambique.
