SC Villa (Uganda) 1 – 0 FUS Rabat (Morocco) | Agg:1-7

Striker Umar Kasumba’s 56th minute penalty granted Sports Club Villa a slim 1-0 home victory over Morocco opposition, Faith Union Sports (FUS) Rabat in the return leg of the CAF Confederations Cup second round match played at Nelson Mandela National Stadium.

Despite the victory, the Jogoos bow out 7-1 on aggregate after the away humiliation a fortnight ago.

The home side was dominant throughout the game with a host of goal scoring opportunities but it was Mustapha Kounde who had the first attempt at goal with a left footed attempt after 14 minutes.

SC Villa steadily recovered with Martin Kizza, Godfrey Lwesibawa and Umar Kasumbe getting close. Lanky defender Mehdi Khalisi had busy evening at office.

SC Villa goalie Nicholas Ssebwato was forced into a save by Neyf Agrd in the 23rd minute before Kasumba had an acrobatic attempt off Lwesibawa’s cross from the left on the other end.

Between the 34th and 40th minutes, SC Villa forced four corners that remained fruitless and the opening half ended all square.

The Jogoos remained the team on mission when the second half returned.

Ten minutes into the half, midfielder Denis Kamanzi was entangled down in the area by Mehdi Khalisi and Adil Zryouh. The day’s referee did not hesitate point to the spot and Kasumba made no mistake from 12 yards.

There were no other clear chances created as the visitors opted for a defensive strategy as their technical team headed by Waled Roragi traveled minus 7 players who featured in the first leg played in Morocco.

Mohammed Fouzir and Denis Kamanzi were the only two players booked on the evening.

During the first leg played in Morocco; FUS scored through Mourad Batna, As Mandaw, Abdessalam Benjelloun, Mehdi Ei Bassel, Maroune Saadane, Youssef El Gnaoui and Mohamed Fouzair.

FUS Rabat thus qualifies to the next stage of the CAF Confederations cup.
