While all teams that won their matches at the second round of the CAF Champions League advance to the group stages of the tournament. The teams that won their ties at the same hurdle in the CAF Confederations Cup have another stage to deal with.

The winners of the Confederation Cup second round were drawn against the losers of the Champions League second round on Thursday, with the former hosting the second leg.

But how exactly did the winners of the Confederation Cup at the second round stage do it?

Sagrada Esperança (Angola) supremacy over Vita Club Mokanda (DR Congo) over two legs, 4–1 on aggregate got them drawn against Yanga (Tanzania) who were knocked out of the CAF Champions League by Al Ahly 3-2 on aggregate.

Kawkab Marrakech (Morocco) who saw off MC Oran (Algeria) 1-0 on aggregate will play Al-Merrikh (Sudan) who were ejected from the Champions League by ES Sétif (Algeria) on away goals rule after they were tied 2-2 on aggregate.

After losing 2-1 to Azam at the Chamazi Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Espérance de Tunis (Tunisia) responded with a 3-0 win in Tunis to advance 4-2 on aggregate.  Espérance de Tunis will play MO Béjaïa (Algeria) who were showed the exit from the Champions League by Zamalek 3–1 on aggregate.

Misr El-Makasa’s (Egypt) 3–2 win on aggregate over CS Constantine (Algeria) booked them a date with Al-Ahli Tripoli (Libya) who failed the ASEC Mimosas (Ivory Coast) test as they were eliminated from the Champions League 3-2 on aggregate.

Stade Gabèsien (Tunisia) will play five time winners of the Champions League TP Mazembe (DRC Congo), the former defeated Zanaco (Zambia) 4–1 on aggregate. TP Mazembe were knocked out of the Champions League by Wydad Casablanca (Morocco) 3–1 on aggregate.

Medeama (Ghana) are one of the three sides from West Africa that are still in the competition, they defeated Al-Ahly Shendi (Sudan) 2-0 on aggregate, and they will play Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa).

FUS Rabat’s (Morocco) 8-1 win on aggregate over SC Villa will see them make another trip to West Africa to play Stade Malien (Mali), who couldn’t go past Zesco United (Zambia) 5–2 on aggregate.

CF Mounana (Gabon) was the only side in the competition that had to advance to the next round after extra time then penalties after the aggregate with ENPPI (Egypt) was tied at 2-2. They will play Étoile du Sahel (Tunisia) who couldn’t go past 2003 and 2004 winners Enyimba, the tie was tied 3-3 on aggregate and the former lost 4-3 on penalties.

The draw for the group stage will be held on 24 May 2016, the eight teams will be drawn into two groups of four. Each group is played on a home-and-away round-robin basis with the winners and runners-up of each group advance to the semi-finals.

The first legs will be played on May 6-8 while the return legs will take place on May 17-18.
