Express Vs KCCA – Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku @ 4pm

Mike Mutebi’s wait for a league title could end on Tuesday – KCCA will be crowned Uganda Premier League champions if they defeat fallen giants and rivals Express at Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku.

With Vipers dropping two points in their barren draw with relegation bound Simba a couple of weeks ago, Mutebi’s Kasasiro Boys can claim an eleventh league title with victory at the home of 6-time winners Red Eagles.

KCCA travel to Wankulukuku on Tuesday afternoon knowing they need to just add one more win to the 16 they have already accrued to move far enough clear of George ‘Best’ Nsimbe’s chasers.

Even matching Vipers’ result, regardless of whether it’s a loss, win or draw will see the title return to Lugogo.

Express’ Wasswa Bbosa is confident his side will leave the pitch victorious and insists they need to finish as high on the log as possible.

“It’s a tough game against a good side,” he stated. “But we are not bad either and the target remains maximum points,” he added.

KCCA hasn’t won at Wankulukuku for a long time and Bbosa doesn’t see it happening on Tuesday. “I don’t remember them picking a win here in recent years. In my life as assistant and then coach, the best they have got here is a stalemate. Let the fans come, cheer us and I promise, they will leave happy.”

Team News:

The hosts have no injury worries ahead of the tie with all boys fit and glaring to go. It’s a different story for the hosts who are without defenders Hassan Wasswa Dazo (former Express), Timothy Awani and Sakka Mpiima all out.

The trio joins attacking midfielder Jackson Nunda who is also on the sidelines.

KCCA sit on top of the log with 55 points while Express are six adrift with two rounds of games to play in the league.

The Red Eagles still have a slim chance of winning the crown but must win their two remaining games and pray that KCCA and Vipers falter as well.

The two sides played to a 1-1 draw in the first round fixture with Muzamiru Mutyaba late goal cancelling out Ibrahim Kizza first half goal at Nakivubo.
