The 2015–16 Uganda Premier League was the 47th season of the league in Uganda though it was the second under the name UPL.

The first ever top tier league was held in 1968-69 won by Prisons (now Maroons).

The season began on 22 August 2015, and concluded on May 27, 2016 at with all teams in action.

Vipers began as the defending champions of the 2014-15 season, Maroons, JMC Hippos and The Saints entered as three promoted sides from the FUFA Big League the previous campaign.

After finishing 3rd with 54 points the previous season, KCCA won the league for the eleventh time in their 63- year history implying only 11 teams have won the league since its inception.
