The first lady of Uganda, Mrs Janet Kataha Museveni has been named the new country’s minister of Sports and Education.

According to the full list released by President Museveni on Monday, there are 81 members as Cabinet Ministers and Ministers of State.

Mrs Museveni replaces Jessica Alupo who had been serving as minister for the last couple of years.

Charles Bakabulindi is maintained as the state minister for sports, Rose Mary Sseninde takes primary education while John Chrysostom Muyingo is maintained at Higher education.

 A section of sports lovers have expressed mixed reactions for the appointment of Mrs. Museveni as sports minister.

“She is a hard worker. She will turn around sports in this country the way she did in the Karamoja region” Wilberforce Mukwaya said.

Andrew Kityo of Ssembabule believes Mrs Museveni has no proven experience in managing sports and thus the sector has been thrown to the dogs;

“She has no experience in sports management” Kityo reasons.
