The fourth round of the Africa rally championship in Tanzania has not only attracted ARC contenders but also crews from Uganda.
The former Rwanda rally champion Christakis Fitidis is among the Ugandan drivers expected to feature in the rally of Tanzania scheduled for July 8-10th in Bagamoyo, Tanzania.
The 62-year-old switched the third round of Uganda National rally event that was in Masaka for the ARC event in Tanzania.
“I chose Tanzania because it has been a while since I last raced there and besides my co-driver Eric and I will be occupied during the ARC event in Rwanda,” says Fitidis.
Fitidis is currently fifth on the NRC standings with 90points. A finish in Tanzania is expected to change his position in the NRC standing.
His last outing in rally of Tanzania was in 2011 were he finished on a podium in third.
On his return to the country, he will join veteran drivers(above 50years) Gerard Miller and Don Smith.
“Its always great to compete against your age-ments, Miller is almost the same age with me and knowing that he will take part assures me of having great race,” he says.
Fitidis will be joined by Jas Mangat, Duncan Mubiru and Yasin Nasser among the crews from Uganda.
