AFC Leopards’ defender Yakubu Ramadhan is in talks with South Sudan Football Federation to play for the national football team, the Bright Stars.

Yakubu, 21, joined AFC Leopards in January 2016 from Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU).

Born in Uganda to a South Sudanese father, he confirmed the development to soka.com;

The federation has approached me but this is a not an easy decision for me since all my life I have grown up as a Ugandan.

I have been brought up knowing that I am Ugandan but the possibility of playing for South Sudan is an interesting one since it is the country of my father.

Playing for any national team is a privilege but I have to take time before I make a decision.

I am still a young player who wants to make it big in football and this is a decision that can have a great impact on my career.

Should Yakubu join the Bright Stars’ team, then he is likely to join Bernard Agele, another Uganda born player who plays for South Sudan.
