Veteran right back, Simeon ‘Massa’ Masaba is delighted to have joined the coaching side of the game at Uganda Revenue Authority.

After close to 20 diligent and commitment years of service as a player, Masaba who was christened ‘Biri Etambuula’ literally translated ‘Roving number two’ for his energetic runs down the right flank ‘called it a career’ as a player to start active coaching.

At end of the 2015/16 season, URA  announced Masaba would join the coaching staff, first as a support personnel in the team’s training sessions.

I am happy to join coaching. Not so many former players get this chance to coach the game.

It is a special moment when a club you have served decides to retain you. Many players leave bitterly with their clubs.

I am honored..

Besides Masaba’s exemplary display on the field of play, he is one of the most down to earth personalities off the playing turf.

Recently, he completed the FUFA Level One coaching course that was organized by the Federation at FUFA House in Mengo, Kampala.

Acquiring the coaching papers is also necessary in this era.

Of course as a former Uganda Cranes player who has played for a very long time,  I have enough knowledge to impart on the players.

But, football is dynamic, the game has grown and we need to accommodate all the modern tactics. So, I need the education and the papers.

Masaba has hopes of elevating to CAF C, B and A in the years to come as he embarks on a serious coaching career down the road.

He joins two former Uganda Cranes’ players in Charles Livingstone Mbabazi and Kefa Kisala, at the URA technical wing.

Joining the coaching team at URA is a great pleasure.

I know, with our partnership, we shall get the results.

Masaba also cautioned players to remain focused and with discipline if they are to realize fruits from their careers.

Many good footballers and even make professional grades with good discipline and focus.

This is how successful footballers and other sportsmen have made it in life

He started work with URA immediately as the Gayaza based club commenced with their pre-season training on Monday, 4th July 2016 at Homesdallen sports facility.
