Aucho impresses in Aberdeen pre-season victory

Uganda Cranes midfielder Khalid Aucho is nearing the dream of his life – playing professional football in Europe.

On Saturday, the left footed player featured in his first game at Aberdeen at Gayfield in a build up match.

Aucho made his debut for the ten man Dons in the 4-1 victory against Arbroath.

Capped 17 times for the Uganda Cranes, Aucho was a second half substitute, five minutes after the break.

He managed a series of decent short crispy and long passing that might have already impressed the Dons boss Derek McInnes for a possible contract.

McInnes included summer signings Neil Alexander, Anthony O’Connor, Miles Storey, Jayden Stockley and Wes Burns in the one sided encounter.

Burns created Peter Pawlett’s opener after 28 minutes.

Burns was also involved vin the built-up to both goals scored by Stockley in the first half.

Pawlett spoiled his afternoon by getting sent-off in the 66th minute for reacting to a late challenge from Arbroath’s Martin Scott, who was also given his marching orders for a blatant headbutt on the Aberdeen midfielder.

Striker Storey claimed his first goal in an Aberdeen shirt from a Scott Wright pass to make it 4-0 in the 81st minute.

David Gold grabbed a late consolation goal for the Red Lichties.

McInnes has already signed seven players this summer but recently indicated there is room for two more signings.

The Dons have had their Premiership clash with Rangers at Pittodrie moved to Sunday September 25, 1pm, so that it can be screened live on Sky Sports.

The Dundee v Dons match at Dens Park has also been moved to noon on Sunday September 18
