Ronald Otile, a member from Toro Golf Club posted an aggregate score of 291 gross to successfully defend his crown at the par 72 Uganda Golf Open in Kampala.

Adolf Muhumza, also last year’s runners up finished second this time round five strokes behind the winner now at the University of Pretoria in South Africa.

The well attended tourney was played over four days at the well mowed Uganda Golf club course in Kampala.

The tournament in numbers:

0 – No golfer scored the much awaited hole in one score.

1 – One Eagle score registered on the opening day by Adolf Muhumuza on hole five.

2 – Number of times that Ronald Otile has won the Uganda Amateur stroke play. Also, the subsidiary players only played for two days.

4 – Number of days of the tournament

5 – Five players from Rwanda played at the 2016 open

9 – Kenya was ably represented by nine players

15 – A total of 15 foreign players took part in the open

18 – Total holes played from each golfer per day. Also, the longest drive contest was played on hole 18 and won by Faiz Alam.

36 – Number of holes played each of the subsidiary category players over the two days.

69 – Best gross score overall scored by Ronald Otile on day two of the open

72 – Total holes played per golfer over the four days on the par 72 Uganda Golf Club course.

74 – The year 2016 marked the 74th Uganda Golf Amateur stroke play championship.

100 – Number of participants in the main event 161 – The best gross score from the subsidiary category. Registered by Herbert Watsala over 36 holes.

149 – Best gross score in 36 holes registered by Toro club golf member and Uganda national team player Ronald Rugumayo

200 – Number of participants in the subsidiary event

288 – The best net score registered at the open by Uganda Golf Club member, Yusuf Ssentongo

291 – Aggregate score of the overall winner, Ronald Otile
