Men’s 1500m Athletics Rio 2016
Uganda’s Representative – Ronald Musagala
Fri, Aug 19, 2:55 AM

Ugandan runner Ronald Musagala returns to action on Friday morning in the men’s 1500m semifinals as he seeks progression to the finals of the event.

Musagala will shoulder all the pressure against threats Czech Republic’s Jakub Holusa, Kenya’s Ronald Kwemwoi, and Morocco’s Abdalaati Iguider who posted better from his.

The 23-year-old – 3:38.45 – did not run better than his personal best 3:35.02, which gives him leverage to perform better in the hot weather conditions in Rio.

Musagala – who will feature in semifinal two, at 2:55 am – has to watch out for favorite; Kenya’s Asbel Kiprop.

Kiprop clocked a world-leading 3:29.33 when winning at the IAAF Diamond League meeting in Birmingham two months ago.

Compatriot Ronald Kwemoi is another, the Commonwealth silver medalist as well as Algeria’s defending champion Taoufik Makhloufi.
