Uganda Cranes up coming fixtures:

  • International Friendly: Uganda Cranes Vs Kenya – Tues, 30th August 2016 – Namboole (4 p.m)
  • 2017 AFCON Qualifier: Uganda Cranes Vs Comoros – Sun, 4th September 2016 – Namboole (5 p.m)

Midfield maestro Geoffrey ‘Baba’ Kizito will not be able to travel for the Uganda Cranes’ upcoming games against Kenya and Comoros.

The dread-locked midfielder’s club in Vietnam Thang Quang Ninh failed to release him since they will also be in action against 5th placed Thanh Hoa on the same day Uganda will be playing Comoros at Namboole.

Kizito, who formerly played at Express and Gor Mahia joins defender Bevis Mugabi whose new club Yeovil Town Football Club also failed to let him travel.

“Unlike Bevis (Mugabi) whose club wrote and formally informed us about his failure to travel, we have got no communication from Baba Kizito’s club in Vietnam. Still, we shall work within the means and prepare for the two games with the available players,” Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic, the Uganda Cranes head coach told Kawowo Sports.

Baba Kizito, who has also missed Uganda Cranes last two matches against Zimbabwe and Botswana inspired Than Quang Ninh in their 3-1 victory against struggling Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HGL) in the Vietnam V-league at the Cẩm Phả Stadium on Sunday.

In his absence, new Baroka signing Aucho Khalid, Throttur star player Tonny Mawejje and KCCA’s Ivan ‘Kojja’ Ntege are the natural replacements ready to fill the void.

This leaves the number of summoned players for the two games to 30 and Micho has no intentions of summoning new faces.

“We shall not summon replacements for Baba or Mugabi. These players we have are enough and in fact I will release some from the camp,” the Serb explained.

Uganda Cranes play host to Kenya in the international friendly match on Tuesday before taking on Comoros in the qualification decider.

Both games shall be played at Nelson Mandela National Stadium.
