The quest for a new coach to take over the Rwanda national football team, Amavubi continues with the country’s football body, FERWAFA intensifying the search.
The new coach will replace the interim head coach Jimmy Mulisa and his assistant Vincent Mashami.
The duo handled the Amavubi Stars in the last 2017 African Cup of Nations last Group H qualifier with Ghana, earning a hard fought 1-1 draw in Accra.
FERWAFA president Vincent Nzamwita as quoted by the New Times confirmed they are in talks with Germany sports body, DFB for an affordable coach.
We need a new head coach and we are in talks with the German FA to create a partnership, which we believe will help us develop our football from the grassroots and also build a strong national team.
We are not in a rush to appoint a new coach since the team doesn’t have any international competition coming soon, we will take our time and look for a very good coach but who is not very expensive.
We need someone who will raise the level of the national team, so hopefully, through our partnership with the German FA and with their help, we will be able to identify the right man for the job
Rwanda’s failure to make the AFCON grade means they will not compete at the international stage for at least 20 months since they never made the 2018 Russia World Cup last qualification stage.
The new head coach will take over permanently from Northern Irishman Johnny McKinstry who was sacked over three weeks ago.
There was free drama as the two appointed interim coaches Gilbert Kanyankore and Eric Nshimiyimana were dismissed just after four days.
