Mbarara based regional side, Welden Football Club has suspended head coach, Badru Ssenkayi over unconvincing results.
The club director, Yasin Mugabi confirmed the suspension to Kawowo Sports;
As we settle in a few things, we made a decision to suspend the coach (Badru Ssenkayi) from the bench. He will as technical director of the club and still get all his salaries.
However, he still has a chance to return to the coaching bench when we see the situation has improved.
In Ssenkayi’s absence, Muhammed Ddamba who is also coach at Blessed Sacrament Kimanya temporarily takes over the mantle of the team based in the Mbarara suburb of Bwizabwera.
Ddamba had been recruited as a goalkeeping coach for the club.
Welden F.C has so far lost the opening two matches of the season in the Western regional league falling to bitter rivals Sentah College and Mbarara Soccer Academy.
Ssenkayi, a former Uganda Cranes international believes the suspension is just timely but he will carry on the job as a volunteer.
I am ready to step aside as requested by the director. I have forwarded him my salary and allowance arrears. Hopefully, he settles them and we shall part ways peacefully.
Welden hosts their next home game on Thursday against Rushere at the Kakyeeka Stadium in Mbarara town.
