Mozambique and South Africa played out to a 1-1 draw in their friendly clash – an entertaining duel played at the Nacional do Zimpeto stadium in Maputo on Tuesday.

The hosts took the lead on 26 minutes through Clesio to take the lead by half time.

Bafana Bafana made amends in the 56th minute when Keagan Dolly found Mphahlele with a long-ball, and he hit a first-time pass towards substitute Bradley Grobler for the equalizer.

As early as the second minute, South Africa had a chance to take a quick lead when Ramahlwe Mphahlele crossed from the right to Thuso Phala. The latter had his shot wide.

Bafana Bafana former assistant Coach Owen da Gama was the head coach in the game at a time the South Africa Football Association (SAFA) suspended head coach Ephraim ‘Shakes’ Mashaba less than 24 hours after guiding the team to a 2-1 home victory against Senegal in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
