After falling to Columbia College a day earlier, Vanguard University made the perfect response when they took on Our Lady of the Lake University in their sixth game of the season.

The Lions who were reeling after the loss to Columbia blew out Our Lady of the Lake 91-60 thanks to great team basketball that garnered a lot of praise from head coach Russ Davis.

“We played great team ball. I am really happy with the team work, poise, and focus we had. We have a chance to do some special things this year if we keep working hard,” Davis stated.

Claire Lamunu was once again in her common place pouring in 25 points to lead the way for Vanguard. The forward also grabbed 12 rebounds.

Lamunu scored 9 points in the first quarter as Vanguard led 20-14 and never looked back as they led by double figures (37-27) at the intermission.

After the third, Vanguard were up by 28 after scoring 34 points in the period.

Christiana Gerostergiou connected five shots from down town and contributed 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Sierra Vaglicia and Kandyce Smith chipped in with 10 and 11 points respectively.

Krystal Ochulo, the only Our Lady of the Lake player to reach double figures had 11 points.

Vanguard return to action on December 3 against Warner Pacific College.
