Uganda Cranes head coach, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic will on Wednesday morning name the wide pool of the provisional AFCON 2017 squad ahead of the second phase of the preparations for the Gabon footballing fiesta.

This will be during the weekly press conference at FUFA House in Mengo, Kampala.

The development follows the initial non residential drills for the team that have witnessed them play against three local league sides, The Saints, Bright Stars and Vipers.

Micho stated on Tuesday, he had achieved the prime objective of the non-residential drills;

Without mentioning names, the Serbian promised ‘surprise’ names on the provisional squad that will take part in the training camps (Tunisia and Dubai) before the final 23 man team is named.

Uganda Cranes has not played at the AFCON finals in now 38 years since Ghana 1978 when they lost to the home side in the finals (2-0).

At Gabon 2017, Uganda will be based on the coastal city of Port Gentil along with Ghana, Egypt and Mali.

Uganda Cranes open the campaign officially on 19th January 2017 against Ghana Black Stars.
