International Friendly Match

Tanzania Vs Uganda

The Uganda Sand Cranes on Tuesday afternoon left Kampala for Dar es salaam for the international friendly match due this Friday.

They are expected to cover at least 1646 KM for the 30 hour journey with stop overs at Nairobi and Eldoret.

The team had 10 players and 9 officials led by FUFA Beach soccer delegate, Anthony Tumwesigye.

Newly crowned Airtel – FUFA Beach Soccer player of the season, Roch Somoka is the team captain of the side that also has Meddie Kibirige and Micheal Kalule as goalkeepers.

The other players who left were Allan Katwe, Davis Kasujja, Ambrose Naturinda, Sulaiman Ochero, Emmanuel Kalyowa, Geofrey Akabwai and sharp shooter Swaibu Kakwaya.

Left behind:

Allan Kayiwa, Yusuf Jolooba, Paul Lule, John Revita and Julius Lulinda were all left behind for different reasons ranging from lack of passports to commitments with their respective clubs in the top flight division.

After intensive training sessions at Lido Beach in Entebbe, Salim Muwonge’s charges will take on their Tanzanian counterparts on Friday, December 9.

This will be the third time that Uganda is playing on the international tour.

The team captain Somoka is ready to inspire and lead the rest of his teammates;

We are ready to give our best in the game and return with the victory.

In 2014, Uganda traveled to Zanzibar where they won the game 6-5.

The subsequent year (2015), Uganda finished 3rd in a four team tournament.

Nine officials will accompany the team led by the FUFA Beach Soccer delegate, Anthony Tumwesigye as the leader of delegation.

The team left Kampala by Modern Coast bus at 3 p.m and were flagged off by the FUFA Head of beach soccer and futsal officer, Samuel Mpiima.
