City Oilers is by far the best basketball club in Uganda for three years running now and the best in the Zone V after winning the regional title this year.
That regional triumph earned City Oilers that right to represent Zone at the FIBA Africa Champions Cup in Egypt.
Oilers set a semifinal finish as their target but they lost all their Group B games and have settled for playing a classification match.

- Jimmy Enabu (L) goes for a layup against RCD Libolo from Angola at the ongoing FIBA Africa Champions Cup in Egypt. Looking on on the right is Kami Kabangu.
According to head coach Mandy Juruni, the players are devastated by their poor outing but as management they are proud of their performance.
The players are disappointed about the losses but as club we are so proud of what they have achieved so far and I know they are going to go out tomorrow and win that game. I think we are good enough to at least win a game at the tournament
Oilers lost to G.S.P (Algeria) 77-69, AS Sales (Morocco) 83-72, BEAC (Cameroon) 67-65 (OT) and RCD Libolo (Angola) 98-44
There is a lot of positives, despite one game that we were really beaten hands down, all the other three games were very close. Also the brand of basketball we played was really good, for the first time playing at this tournament, I think we have done well although we haven’t gotten the wins yet.
And despite the poor outing, Juruni believes the side is not too far off from the other continental powerhouses in especially in Egypt and Angola.
We are not so far away from the middle teams, I think with the addition of few players we should be able to compete well.
The four time league winner in the last four years hurries to emphasize that not only adding players will improve the game.
So many things we need to place as a club and also basketball in Ugandan to improve our players and our teams
Oilers will face Cameroon side Nzui-Manto for positions nine to ten on Wednesday, the latter also finished bottom of Group A.
