Rugby Premiership: Rhinos vs. Gulu -2.30pm, Legends
Rimula Rhinos’ good start to the season is long forgotten after being on the wrong end of three results in three weekends.
Brian Makalama’s side were condemned to their second straight defeat after a 22-17 defeat at the hands of Heathens last Saturday.
They had earlier lost drawn 17-all with Sadolin Mongers and lost 28-09 to Buzz Pirates.
However, all that will be behind the team when they take on unstable Gulu Elephants in the lunch time fixture at Legends on Saturday.
Head coach Makalama revealed that the team’s recent struggles are all due to the lack of enough time with the players in training.
But, against Gulu, a side yet to register a win this season, there can’t be any excuses and Rhinos will be expected to bounce back and return to winning ways.
Rhinos started the season well and defeated defending champions Kobs but have been in sexes and sevens since.
They have only managed to cross the white line once in their last two games. While the win over Kobs matched the hype surrounding the team, the losses to Pirates and Heathens exposed the various weaknesses Makalama has to deal with to make Rhinos a power house.
After six rounds of the national league, Rhinos have won 3, drawn 1 and lost 2. They have collected 16 points and are 12 points behind table leaders Heathens.
The side was punished for the penalties conceded against Heathens as fly half Chris Lubanga converted 5 penalties to hand Rhinos their second loss of the season, the second in a row.
For Gulu, their first win of the season, if it will come, keeps eluding them.
The Northern Uganda outfit drew with Mongers last weekend and go into the game as second best.
