Power 62-54 City Oilers

If the National Basketball League Playoff Finals Game 1 loss to City Oilers taught Power anything, then it was composure.

The five-time champions held their nerves to defeat Oilers 62-54 in the second meeting of the seven-game series on Sunday night at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium.

The two sides were square at 13 after the opening ten minutes and matched in the second quarter before Power pulled away to a five-point advantage late into the frame to into the halftime break with a 27-22 lead.

City Oilers who had trouble breaking down Power’s defense fought back in the third to go into the last period with a slim 43-42 lead.

Turning Point

With just under nine minutes to play in the final quarter, Micheal Kojjo who turned in a shift tied the game at 44.

Micheal Makiadi who alongside Kojjo suffocated Oilers interior connected from the top of the mountain to give Power a 47-44 lead with just over seven minutes to play and Power did not trail again.

Paul Odong took over connecting back-to-back triples and it was composure on the defensive end there after as Power drew level heading into Game 3 on Wednesday night.

Odong scored 15 points to lead Power’s team effort that saw Kojjo and Joseph Ikong score 11 points apiece. Makiadi scored 8 points to go with 10 rebounds.

Kami Kabange scored game high 16 points in a losing effort.

Ben Komakech notched a double-double of 14 points and game high 11 rebounds. A largely ineffective Jimmy Enabu who played sporadically in the second half managed a mere 6 points.
