Saturday, 21st January 2017: Egypt Vs Uganda
Port Gentil Stadium
When Uganda Cranes take to the field of play once again at the Port Gentil stadium on Saturday against Egypt, there will be assured two fresh faces on the side.
Baroka Football club midfielder Aucho Khalid and Simba S.C defender Murushid Jjuuko return to the fold after being suspended in the Ghana clash.
The duo were suspended having accumulated yellow cards from the qualification campaign.
Head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic, during the post match press conference stated that the two players’ return will boost the team.
I congratulate Ghana who are always a top team in Africa.
We will have two key players Murushid Juuko and Khalid Aucho back from suspension and I believe we shall get better against Egypt.
On the 1-0 loss to Ghana Black Stars, Micho is quick to praise the team’s performance and level of commitment exhibited.
I am very proud of my team and will not look for individual mistakes. My team has shown that we have the technical and physical ability but we still have to work more.
We will play against giants Egypt and Mali and we will make sure to give 200% of our efforts.
I have learnt that at this level of competition we cannot make silly mistakes like what we have done and we will not do that against Egypt and Mali.
We have done everything to get a good result and this has been a great lesson for my players.
We showed that we are capable playing against the best in Africa.
Uganda Cranes will take on Egypt in the second game on Saturday at the same stadium.
Meanwhile, Egypt and Mali played to a goal-less draw on Tuesday night.
The final group D matches will take place concurrently on 25th January 2017.
