The Pharaohs of Egypt on Wednesday beat Ghana to top Group D and also complete the quarter finals line up at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

The seven time record champions went into the last round of group matches still to qualify and they did it in style by topping a tough group with two wins and a draw.

With 7 points, 1 ahead of Ghana, Hector Cuper’s charges have avoided arguably the tournament’s most threatening side in DR Congo but have Herve Renard’s Morocco lurking in what will be a North African derby.

The quarter finals

Paul Duarte’s Burkina Faso open the last eight fixtures with a date against 2004 champions Tunisia on Saturday at the Stade de I’Amitie, Libreville before a repeat of the 2002 finals as Senegal will battle Cameroon in Franceville on the same day.

The following day, DR Congo and Ghana face off first in Oyem while Egypt and Morocco bring the chapter to end in the last eight.
