Nyamityobora Football Club defeated Mbale based Kataka F.C 3-0 in the return leg of the FUFA Big League on Saturday evening in Mbarara.

Goals from strikers Faizo Muwawu, Yusuf Abato and Lameck Ebong’s well converted penalty ensured the maximum points for Charles Ayiekho Lukula’s coached side.

The victory was a perfect revenge mission for Nyamityobora who lost the reverse fixture 1-0 during the first round engagement played in Mbale town.

The three points in the pouch are vital for the side that is steadily playing catch up to Rwenzori Group run away leaders Masavu Football Club.

Last Thursday, Nyamityobora were condemned to a 2-0 away defeat by Masavu at the sandy Katabi playground in Entebbe.

Masavu now has 33 points, eight better of Nyamityobora who are now on 25 points.

Nyamityobora’s win over Kataka was good enough to ensure that they displace bitter rivals from the second place.

On the other hand, Kataka was condemned to their 8th loss of the season in 14 games as they remain with only 10 points.

Kataka had also lost 4-0 to Masaka based Synergy prior to their match against Nyamityobora.

Nyamityobora head coach, Charles Ayiekho has the belief his charges will qualify for the UPL season next season.

“Our preparations have been on a top notch. We still work hard and have the hope that we shall qualify for the top division next season,” Ayiekho told Kawowo Sports.

The other Rwenzori Group game between Airtel Kitara and Boma Young ended all square in a one-all draw.

Rogers ‘Roger Milla’ Ahumuza lit up the derby match with the day’s opening strike for Airtel-Kitara before Edson Tumwesige ensured that the game ends in a stalemate.

Airtel-Kitara now has 17 points from 14 matches and remains 6th on the 13-team log whilst Booma Young displaced Kataka from the 12th slot as the Mbale side now bottom.

Next Games:

Kataka will host Mbarara City on Tuesday, 14th February 2017 at their new Nabini ground outside Mbale town.

Nyamityobora returns to action next Thursday, 16th February 2017 with a home date against Hope Doves.

Boma Young will entertain Water on Saturday, 18th February 2017 in Hoima and Airtel-Kitara’s next engagement will be on Sunday, 26th February 2017, away to Kireka United.

Kireka United hosts their home games at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole outside training ground.

Three clubs will be promoted from the FUFA Big League to the Uganda Premier League.
