Former URA coach Alex Isabirye starts his reign at Soana FC against his former pay masters.

The Tax Collectors, with whom Isabirye won the trophies host Soana at Mehta Grounds, Lugazi a couple of days after the former Ugandan striker was named coach for the Kavumba side.

At his unveiling, the well-travelled coach revealed how important it is to win games and the urge to start his career at Soana on a winning note makes the tie even more exciting to catch.

“I want to restore the pride and status quo of Soana,” he said. “We need to win games and finish in a respectable position. Soana is a good club that also has good players,” he added.

The game also pits him against another coach, who is new at the club in Ibrahim Kirya – the two know each other well after working together at URA.

Kirya, who earned maximum points on his debut in the dugout expects a good game but believes his side has an edge.

“He is a good coach as his achievements suggest and it will be interesting to play against him,” Kirya told Kawowo Sports. “We are almost in a similar situation but the good thing is that we are playing at home and the win over Sadolin Painters lifted our confidence,” he added.

The hosts, 5th on the log with 30 points after 20 games go into the game on the back of two consecutive wins since sacking Alex Isabirye and maximum points will see them move into the top three for the first time this season.

They will hope strikers Hamis ‘Diego’ Kiiza, Peter Lwasa, Robert Mukongotya and Bokota Labama Kamana don their scoring boots on the day.

Isabirye’s charges are 8th on the table with 25 points and have a chance to move to 5th with victory.
