Bul forward Robert Achema expressed his delight after scoring his first goal of the season on Friday.

The former SC Villa player came off the bench in the second half to break his duck with his long range strike in the 70th minute as Bul edged Police 1-0 at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

The forward was understood to be growing increasingly frustrated by his failure to find the net so he was unsurprisingly happy after his strike.

“It was great and a big relief for me to finally score,” Achema told Kawowo Sports.

“It is always nice to score but the most important thing is the three points. I’ve been searching for the goal and I’m happy I finally found it but most importantly happy for the win,” he added

After a series of frustrating individual performances, Achema who was the guilty party in Bul’s barren draw against league debutants Kirinya-Jinja SSS on Tuesday revealed it was pre-match talk with coach Peter Onen that helped him find his first goal.

“We talked before the game. The coach told me to be calm in front goal. I missed very many chances on Tuesday so he told me to try being composed in front of goal. Today, I didn’t have to do a lot.”

Victory was Bul’s fourth of the campaign and it moved them to 14th in the league standings. While they remain in the bottom three, it moved them to within one point and place of safety.
