Nelson Senkatuka and Simon Mbazira scored as Proline beat Sadolin Paints 2-0 on Saturday at the Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo to deepen the Painters’ relegation fears.

After holding off early pressure from the visitors, Proline’s first goal arrived in the 25th minute when Sam Kintu’s long ball from the midfield found a well-positioned Senkatuka who slotted home after he beat goalkeeper Yunus Baker.

Sadolin, with the hopes of getting back into contention in the first half threatened through their usual suspects Bassan Shafi, Fred Kyambade and Norman Ogik, but Proline’s defence was watchful.

The hosts won a penalty in 33rd minute after Senkatuka was fouled, and should have gone into recess with a two goal lead, but the former KCCA striker failed to convert as the goalkeeper punched the ball into play, but even then, Proline were unable to find the back of the net thanks to the goalkeeper’s resilience.

Baker was hit by the ball on the chest while trying to save his team and was stretched off the field unconscious and rushed to the nearby clinic. The custodian was replaced by Hatimu Hilbert

The second half saw both sides enjoy equal possession of the ball and it was Proline who made the best out of it as they found their second of the day through their captain Mbazira.

Senkatuka trying to find his way out of two defenders Joseph Nkubi Ssemwogerere and Nasseer Nsubuga was pulled by the former and the referee pointed at the spot. The striker stepped aside for the captain who coolly sent Hilbert the opposite direction.

Mbazira was scoring his second goal of the campaign, while Senkatuka who appears confident and enjoying his football at the moment netted his sixth of the campaign.

The result keeps Proline eighth in the league standings, but level on points with Soana placed a place above them on goal difference. Both teams are on 30.

Sadolin meanwhile, remain stationed eleventh with 24 points, just two off the red line.

With only seven games left of the play, the side is in danger of getting relegated.
